The availability of donors is the main challenge for renal transplantation. Whose responsibility is it?
(Analysis of your answers will be provided by Dr. Francis Delmonico, Director of Medical Affairs of the Transplantation Society.)
Government: Governments that endorse transplantation should organize campaigns calling for donors
Physicians: All practitioners, regardless of their specialty, should encourage their patients to sign on as do
Patient associations: Associations of patients with end-stage renal disease and other diseases requiring transplantation should organize informative campaigns calling for donors
Mass media: Background information on transplantation and the need for donors should be the subject of regular informative campaigns in the media
Schools: Transplantation issues and the need for donors should be a part of general education
Everybody: Transplantation works. It is accepted by everyone and is the only option for saving the lives of many patients worldwide. Everybody should work towards the goal of increasing the pool of donors
